Dorie-Anne Leggett was born in the Interior of British Columbia and is the youngest of six children. She developed an interest in the practice of law at a very early age and commenced working in a law firm at the age of 16. Dorie-Anne was always interested in business and pursued that passion by obtaining her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Victoria. To prepare herself for the study of business law she obtained a double major in economics and sociology, graduating in the top 3% of her class in 1985. During summers, Dorie-Anne was employed as a legal secretary which assisted her in developing a clear understanding of the operations of a legal practice prior to obtaining her formal education. She was accepted into the Faculty of Law at UBC and continued with her focus on business transactions, wills, estates & trust as well as real estate law. Dorie-Anne articled with the law firm of Ferguson Gifford in 1988/89 and was licenced to practice law in BC in 1989. She joined the law firm of Cassady & Company in 1989. Dorie-Anne immediately became involved in the community. She is a past director and/or member of the Royal City Rotary Club, the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce and the Douglas College Foundation. She is a current member of the Canadian Bar Association and is a member of the Real Estate, Banking and Wills & Estate subsections. Dorie-Anne is married and has twins. Her family enjoys all types of sports but particularly enjoys water skiing and down hill skiing.
